Learning to stick weld may be difficult for new operators. If the electrode is held too close to the material it causes the rod to short out and stick to the work piece. Hold the electrode to far and it causes the arc to sputter. The operator must maintaine precise speed and distance at the same time allowing for the electrode to be consumed.
